Topic: Case Studies in International Mass Marketing Fraud
Mass-marketing fraud involves fraud schemes that use the internet, telephone, or the mails to fraudulently solicit large numbers of victims, and persuade them to transfer funds to financial institutions connected with the scheme.
These schemes have vast impacts on society, especially elder persons who are particularly vulnerable, and often unable to recover from significant financial losses.
This program describes domestic and international investigations of frauds ranging from investment schemes, to advance-fee fraud schemes, romance schemes, and “relative-in-distress” (aka the grandson scheme).
