    Assignments

    Assignments generally require the services of one to four members of the staff. Your responsibilities will vary on different engagements, particularly during the first two to three years of employment. Your skills and judgment will be developed and evaluated through a variety of challenging and interesting assignments.

    If you qualify for a position with Vicenti, Lloyd & Stutzman, it will be because you demonstrate the skills necessary to succeed in public accounting. We put these skills to work immediately. After an orientation and thorough introductory training, new staff are quickly assigned to client projects that will enhance their knowledge and add real world experience to their education.

    We encourage people to use their judgment, insights and imagination to pursue practical and creative solutions to clients’ problems and needs. This is a dynamic profession and one which is constantly changing. Today’s answers are probably not tomorrow’s solutions and you will be challenged to stay current. You can expect to learn a great deal in a very short period of time.

    If someone has a particular interest in a certain area, we do our best to reflect that desire in job assignments. We believe that the staff member and the firm benefit through developing an emphasis in a service area.

    Professional Development

    Much of your development will come from on-the-job experience. We also ensure that each staff member has at least 40 hours of qualifying professional training each year; generally it’s almost twice that. This is accomplished by using a combination of in-house staff training, video programs, professional organizations and outside seminars and conferences. We utilize courses conducted by the American Institute of CPAs, California Society of CPAs and other organizations.

    Although there is not a required timetable, you are expected and encouraged to become a CPA as rapidly as possible. We encourage you to take a CPA coaching course; if possible, your work schedule will be arranged to enable you to attend such a course. If you desire to continue your formal education and pursue a post-graduate degree, you are encouraged to do so as it will help broaden your knowledge and abilities.

    Your professional growth is as important to us as it is to you. We want you to develop and advance as quickly as possible. We will do our best to help you acquire and refine the skills necessary to be successful in the accounting profession. This includes helping you receive the training, both formal and informal, that you need.

    You should realize, however, that as in all professions, your future professional development and growth depends primarily on you. We have found that, without exception, the growth and development of any individual is determined by his/her own initiative, determination and desires.

    Balancing Life & Career
